For blemish-free appearance, our peaches, nectarines, and apricots are harvested and packed from buckets, not bulk bins.
Mature peaches and nectarines are too delicate to be harvested into 1000-pound bulk bins. Fruit harvested into bins has more blemishes, even if those blemishes are still within U.S. No. 1 tolerances.
Fruit that has been packed from buckets instead of bins is cleaner, brighter and practically blemish free.
All Prima® Fruit Is Forced-Air Cooled. On hydrocooled peaches and nectarines there is staining and surface discolorations that you will not see on forced-air cooled fruit. Hydrocooling causes plums to become turgid, which results in splits and cuts.
